ALLMAG 4000 Electromagnetic Flow Meter
A full-bore magnetic flow meter for water, effluent, slurries and chemicals, in compact or remote versions, with a choice of liners and electrodes for the liquid you are measuring.

Key Features of the ALLMAG 4000 Electromagnetic Flow Meter
Faraday principle
The induced voltage is proportional to flow velocity, so the reading is not affected by density, viscosity, temperature, pressure or conductivity above the minimum.
Turndown is up to 1500:1.
Liner choice
Neoprene for water, sewage and low-abrasion slurry, polyurethane for abrasive mineral slurry, and PTFE, F46 or PFA for strong acids and alkalis.
Electrode choice
316L stainless steel, Hastelloy B or C, titanium, tantalum, platinum-iridium or tungsten-carbide coated steel, matched to the corrosion and abrasion of the liquid.
Backlit display and keys
A high-definition backlit LCD shows flow rate, totals and alarms, with navigation keys for set-up.
Self-diagnostics
Intelligent empty-pipe detection and electrode resistance measurement flag an empty pipe or contaminated electrodes.
Outputs for the control system
4 to 20 mA, pulse or frequency, high and low alarm outputs, and RS485, RS232 or HART communication.

Download Data SheetHow does the ALLMAG 4000 work?
Step by step:
Flow is the velocity multiplied by the bore area, so the meter must run full. Install it after a pump and before a control valve, avoid the highest point of the line, and keep 10 × DN straight pipe upstream and 5 × DN downstream.
Where the ALLMAG 4000 is used
Typical applications for this electromagnetic flow meter, from the manufacturer's documentation.
- 01Water and wastewaterRaw water, potable water, sewage and effluent lines, with neoprene liners and 316L electrodes.
- 02Mining and mineralsMineral and coal slurries, with polyurethane liners for abrasive duty.
- 03Chemical processingAcids, alkalis and corrosive media with PTFE, F46 or PFA liners and Hastelloy, titanium or tantalum electrodes.
- 04Food, beverage, pulp and paperProcess water, product lines and paper stock in full pipes.

From Selection to a Working Signal in Your Control System
A flow meter is only as useful as the signal that reaches the control room. Proplant PCE handles the steps around the instrument as well as the instrument itself.

ALLMAG 4000 FAQ
What can the ALLMAG 4000 measure?
Electrically conductive liquids and slurries in full pipes, with a conductivity above 5 µS/cm (20 µS/cm for demineralised water). It cannot measure oils, gases or other non-conductive media.
How accurate is it?
The standard version is 0.5% with 0.2% repeatability. A 1.0% version is also available.
Which liner should I choose?
Neoprene suits water, sewage and low-abrasion slurry, polyurethane suits abrasive mineral and coal slurry, and PTFE, F46 or PFA suit strong acids and alkalis and higher temperatures.
What straight pipe does it need?
At least 10 × DN upstream and 5 × DN downstream to meet the accuracy specification.
Can the transmitter be mounted away from the pipe?
Yes. The remote version has a wall-mount transmitter connected by a 10 m cable as standard, and the sensor is rated IP68.
Does it connect to a PLC or SCADA?
Yes. Outputs include 4 to 20 mA, pulse and alarm outputs, with RS485, RS232 or HART communication.
Can Proplant PCE help me size the meter?
Yes. Send us the liquid, pipe size, flow range and process conditions and we will recommend a size, liner and electrode material.
